Who Phil Works With
Every project starts in a different place. Some clients have just a single spark of an idea. Others have everything from a rough outline to a published novel.
Producers & Directors
You have a project in development and need a screenplay that works structurally, dramatically, and commercially.
Novelists & Authors
You want to adapt your book or short story into a screenplay without losing the core of what made it work on the page.
Idea-Driven Clients
You have a concept for a film, but don’t know how to turn it into a script—or want a professional to handle it properly.
Why Most Ideas Never Become Screenplays
Having an idea is not the hard part. The challenge is what comes next.
A film idea might feel clear in your head—but translating it into a structured, engaging story with compelling characters, strong stakes, and a satisfying arc is a different skill entirely.

This is where most projects stall.

They get stuck between concept and execution—between what the story could be and what actually works on screen.
A great idea is a starting point. Turning it into a screenplay requires development, structure, and experience.
That’s the gap Phil helps bridge.
What Phil Does
Turning an idea into a screenplay isn’t just about writing—it’s about developing a story that works.
Every project begins in a different place, but the goal is always the same: to shape your idea into a clear and compelling screenplay that holds together from beginning to end.
Phil Parker works closely with clients from the outset to ensure a shared understanding of the project—what the story is, what it needs to become, and how best to bring it to life on screen.
Concept Development
Some projects start with a fully formed story. Others begin with a rough idea. At this stage, the focus is on identifying the core of the story—what it’s about, who it’s about, and what drives it forward.
Story Structuring
A strong idea needs a strong foundation. This is where the story is shaped into a working structure—defining the plot, building character arcs, and ensuring the story develops in a way that keeps an audience engaged.
Writing the Script
Phil’s multi-layered approach ensures that clients are clear on what to expect before writing begins. With that foundation in place, the screenplay is written in full. The result is a delivered script that reads less like a first draft and more like an advanced draft.

Revisions & Refinement
This stage focuses on strengthening the script—refining the characters, tightening the structure, and improving clarity — so the final screenplay is as strong as it can be.
How the Process Works
A clear process is what turns an idea into a finished screenplay.
Each stage builds on the one before it, ensuring that by the time the script is written, the story is already working at a structural and conceptual level.
At each step, you have the opportunity to review the material and provide feedback before moving forward—keeping the project's vision aligned throughout.
1. Initial Consultation
The process begins with a conversation—either in person or online.
This is where Phil works closely with you to understand your vision for the story, clarify key ideas, and align on the project's direction before any writing begins.
2. Outline (7-10 pages)
The first step in development is a written outline. This document provides a clear overview of the story—covering the main plot, key characters and their arcs, and the underlying themes. You review the outline and provide feedback before moving to the next stage.
3. Treatment (15-20 pages)
The treatment expands the outline into a more detailed version of the story. Each scene is mapped out, with deeper exploration of character, tone, and progression. Supporting characters are developed further, and selected moments of dialogue may be explored. You review the treatment and provide feedback before the screenplay is written.

4. Screenplay (features: 90-115 pages)
With the groundwork in place, the screenplay is drafted. All of the development work is brought together into a complete script—structured, paced, and formatted to professional industry standards.

5. Revisions
Following the delivery of the first draft and your notes, Phil completes two full revision passes on the screenplay. These revisions focus on refining character, strengthening dialogue, and improving individual scenes—ensuring the final script is as polished and effective as possible.

What You Receive
A complete, professionally written feature-length screenplay (typically 90–115 pages), developed through a structured and collaborative process. The screenplay is fully formatted to industry standards using Final Draft screenwriting software and delivered to you as a PDF.
