KINDRED
A Time-Travel Action/Adventure

What if saving the future meant confronting the past?

KINDRED is a grounded sci-fi action/adventure built around one of cinema's most enduring ideas: traveling through time to prevent a catastrophic future.

Screenwriter Phil Parker was hired by Red Centre Films to rewrite KINDRED, developing the fifth and sixth drafts into a compelling, time-travel sci-fi screenplay. KINDRED subsequently won or placed in several competitions and film festivals and secured shopping agreements with production companies in Australia and the United States.

RED CENTRE FILMS

“My outline for ‘Kindred’ is now a unique, fun, powerful, meaningful and kick-arse screenplay because Phil challenges your story to be the most potent it can be. He really knows structure and how to write with economy, flair and versatility. Your script will be in great hands!”

Why Do Time Travel Movies Keep Sending Characters Into The Past?

Time travel movies have found countless reasons to send characters into the past. Marty McFly accidentally disrupts his parents' first meeting in Back to the Future. Kyle Reese travels back to protect Sarah Connor in The Terminator. The heroes of Avengers: Endgame revisit earlier moments in their own history in an attempt to reverse catastrophe.

The rules change from film to film, but the dramatic attraction remains remarkably consistent: knowledge of the future turns the past into a battleground.

Sometimes the traveler must prevent an event. Sometimes they inadvertently cause it. Sometimes changing history creates an entirely different future. And sometimes, as films such as 12 Monkeys explore, the question is whether history can be changed at all.

That tension between past and future provides the science-fiction engine of KINDRED. A visitor from the future arrives with knowledge of a catastrophe that has not happened yet, forcing the story's protagonist to confront events in his own past before they lead to a devastating future.
